A couple of weeks ago, we started our look back at some of the best moments of the last year's wedding season! Here's part 2 in the series of our favourite bridal bouquets from 2011 ... enjoy!
Bold + Beautiful Bouquet ...
We absolutely love colour ... for Chloe + Herbert's wedding we really punched it up a notch and took full advantage of a palette featuring intense shades of cobalt blue, magenta, deep pink, deep purple and fucshia tones.
See the whole wedding here.

Flirty + Fragrant Bridal Bouquet ...
The dreamy tones of our 'Glow' palette featuring soft yellow, ivory and cognac set the mood for this wedding, while the garden roses, white hydrangeas, tulips, heaven-scented lily of the valley and peonies did all the heavy lifting design wise!
See the whole wedding here.

Noel's hat pin from his days in the Canadian military provided the emblem detailing on Jennifer's soft yellow bridal bouquet! Check out the cute bouquet 'collar' ruffles ...

Organic + Textural Bride's Bouquet ...
We were excited to design the organic, texture-laden, earthy and informal flowers for this wedding. The colour palette followed shades of medium pink, silver/grey, white, deep taupe and blush.
We brought in so much texture by using curly willow, hydrangeas, garden roses, calla lilies, orchids, celosia, dusty miller, air plants, pink protea and Hens 'n Chicks (fresh picked from our studio cutting garden!!!).
Pretty in pink ... love, love, love the Hens 'n Chicks in there!!!

Purple Bride's Bouquet ...
Purple was still a huge colour in 2011 ... this wedding featured hues from our 'Breeze' colour palette ... mainly purple with acents of green and white/cream and a touch of butter.
Flowers we designed with included green and white hydrangeas, stunning purple Vanda orchid blooms, dahlias, roses and pieris. Quirky elements included cork logs, Manzanita branches, giant slabs of walnut and canning jars with oodles of glass candlelight!

The Jonathan Adler Inspired Bouquet ...
In the last summer of 2011 we worked with Cynthia Martyn Events Inc. to put together a wedding day design inspired by a favoured designer (Cynthia chose famed housewares and accessories designer Jonathan Adler as her muse)
The feature appears in the Winter/Spring 2012 issue of WedLuxe Magazine ... pages 68 - 70.

When we got the email from Catherine Lash of The Wedding Co. that she want to feature us in the premiere issue of her new magazine ... well, we were a little excited ... and a little scared, to be honest!!
It turns out we had a wonderful time working with the amazingly-talented Genevieve Caron as she explored every inch of our barn and work studio, catching Jennifer in action while she was creating one of fall 2011 weddings.
We think the first issue turned out wonderfully and we are so thrilled to have been a part of it!
Here are the results ...

It that time of the year when we look back at the best moments of the last year's wedding season! We're going to start with some of our favourite bridal bouquets from 2011 ... enjoy!
Classic + Romantic White Bouquet ...
Here's a fun fact: our bride Andrea is a wee bit famous! You might have seen her on Law & Order, CSI: Miami, Criminal Minds and Blue Bloods ... or you might know her best as Dennis Leary's ex Janet Gavin on Rescue Me. Andrea is originally from Southern Ontario and she flew back to Niagara from LA to tie the knot with her producer fiancé, Todd Biermann.
Flowers in her predominately white bouquet included lavender foliage, white calla lilies, garden roses, freesia and white lisianthus .. we wrapped and pinned the stem with a length of lace.

Earth + Textural Purple Bouquet ...
This wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty Canada!
The flowers in Ariel's bridal bouquet were purple local dahlias, lavender, lavender foliage, butterfly bush and japanese painted fern from our organic cutting gardens here at the Studio. The stem was wrapped in jute with a handmade ceramic button finishing it all off!

Sunny Yellow Bride's Bouquet ...
Flowers in these bouquets consisted of garden and standard roses, gerberas, craspedia, orchids, yellow callas, and gardeny bits such as heuchera leaves, japanese painted fern, mint and scented geranium from our own organic cutting gardens!
Reanne's bridal bouquet in yellow featured a special pendant detailing on the stem!

Dazzling + Dramatic Red and Pink Bride's Bouquet ...
Rebecca's bouquet was full and flowery featuring dramatic shades of rich red, raspberry, medium pink and burgundy in a combo of our Passion and Spirit palettes and loaded with garden and standard roses, mokara and cymbidium orchids and calla lillies.

The Sentimental Bridal Bouquet ...
The colour palette for this bouquet features muted tones of soft purples, greens, blush, soft white and champagne ... a very modern vintage 'Anthropologie' type feel.
Beth's bridal bouquet wins the award for the most sentimental bouquet of 2011 ... the antique lace we wrapped around the stem of her bouquet was part of her mother's own wedding dress. As well, the gold heart locket wrapped around the stem was given to Beth by her father before he passed away earlier in the year.
Taking parts of the past into a new future ... it's heart warming! :)

We kicked off 2012 at The Wedding Co. Show in the historic Carlu ... one of Toronto's finest examples of art moderne architecture designed by Jacques Carlu in 1930 ... such a unique event space!!
Aside from meeting new clients at the show, a really important part of the weekend for us is connecting with the many talented wedding professionals that gather annually at this show. We're so proud to be associated with such a talented pool of wedding vendors and we're excited to work with a bunch of them in the coming months and years!!
For this show, we debuted our long-awaited latest addition ... a one-of-a-kind 10ft tall custom made metal tree we commissioned this past fall! We loaded the tree with nearly 300 stems of tangerine mokara orchids, hanging glass candle-lit lanterns and delicate handcrafted glass butterflies (custom made for us by our glass artisan friend, Connie Paul).

Just imagine exchanging your wedding vows under a couple of these jaw-dropping trees ... indoors or out ... they'd be absolutely magnificent!!!
We designed our *tree* to be extremely versatile ... in addition to a wedding ceremony, we can also use it to create a statement piece in the lobby, atrium, bar or lounge area of your event space ... it can be bare or loaded with foliage, branches or flowers of any colour ... it's also height adjustable!
The tree effectively lowers the ceiling and helps to creates a more intimate space ... much like in nature!

We had been dreaming about our *tree* for quite a while ... we sketched up our idea, brought it to a metal artist friend of ours and he made our vision into reality!
We're so happy with this first one, that we're going to get a few more made ... the possibiities for use are endless!!!

We started designing our space for this show back in September ... before we fully realized just how big the tangerine orange and grey combo would become this year!
We gathered and assembled our ideas ... custom grey felt flower vessel sleeves with inset butterfly detailing, fabric votive sleeves, butterfly tea cups from Anthropologie, antique silverware (found at Paris Market in Savannah, GA), grey-washed barnboard communal table (from The Warehouse in Niagara-on-the-Lake), pinwheel crystal stemware ... it all came together nicely!

Thanks to our book-maker friend Hannelore for the beautiful hand-bound guest book! (pictured above).

Back in the late fall, Catherine Lash of The Wedding Co. sent photographer Geneviève Caron over to the studio to catch Jennifer in her element ... for an article for the premier of The Wedding Co. magazine.
When we showed up at The Carlu to install our display, weren't we surprised to find Jennifer had become the poster-girl for the "Meet the Makers" feature ... is it a little hot in here?!?!

All-in-all, it was a wonderful way to kick off the 2012 wedding season ... we're really looking forward to how this year will unfold!

We're so excited to finally share the latest film project we've just finished ... we call it 'Made with Love' !!!
While we were dreaming this all up, we became focused on some specific words and phrases such as ... 'local', 'heirloom', 'hand-made', 'authentic', 'community', 'nature', 'living in the moment' ... we followed our heart and really let these words become our mantra to guide us through this project.
Be sure to check out the Made with Love Project photos as well.

On most creative projects like this one, many, many hours are spent crafting a space to perfection so as to be pristinely captured for publication and then, quicker than it went up, it's all torn down and packed away and everyone runs back to their busy lives! There's something that just feels wrong about that ... so, this time around, we felt it was really important that those involved get to enjoy the fruits of our labour and share the joy of the moment! So, at the end of day with all of our hard work behind us, we invited a few friends to join us as we sat down for dinner + drinks!
At it's heart, Made with Love is a story about beauty, friendship, connection and kindred spirits ... it's a story that is about more than just a theme or colour scheme ... it’s about more than a schedule of events or formalities and pretense.
Certainly it's about engaging the senses and creating a setting full of discovery and beauty ... but it’s also about all of the little details that have a way of bringing people closer together to celebrate our togetherness!
This story was Made with Love and the creative gifts of a few good friends ...
