A sugar shack is not just a space where maple syrup is crafted .. it's also a traditional Canadian gathering place that houses wonderful memories, and age old traditions. It's simply the perfect setting for an early spring Canadian wedding!
We were excited to be involved in this 'concept shoot' for an intimate wedding at Crinklaw’s Sugar Shack ... an ideal setting for a sweet early spring love fest!
Bright orange tins filled to the brim with sugary maple sap provided the inspiration for the colour palette. Tangerine became our base colour and paired nicely with rustic caramel, a bold Canadian red and creamy vanilla. The custom stationary products also added a playful touch to this fete!
In keeping with the heritage vibe of this rustic setting, vintage elements such as snow shoes, copper pots and gold plated china were paired with the bride’s fun and lively, knee grazing BHLDN dress.
Pedestal vases arranged with soft and fuzzy spring pussy willows flanked the old wooden front door. Inside the cozy shack, raw wooden beams and a crackling fireplace provided the ideal atmosphere for a sweetheart table that was topped with a cheery vintage tablecloth. The tabletop was overflowing with delicate poppies, whimsical ranunculus and lush roses.

When we got the email from Catherine Lash of The Wedding Co. that she want to feature us in the premiere issue of her new magazine ... well, we were a little excited ... and a little scared, to be honest!!
It turns out we had a wonderful time working with the amazingly-talented Genevieve Caron as she explored every inch of our barn and work studio, catching Jennifer in action while she was creating one of fall 2011 weddings.
We think the first issue turned out wonderfully and we are so thrilled to have been a part of it!
Here are the results ...

We were totally excited to find this same day edit by StillMotion in our inbox the other day!!
A while back, Helen came to us because she connected with our work ... she also quickly became a friend and confidant. A total kindred spirit! We love it when those magical little friendships blossom because it makes doing 'our thing' for the wedding extra special!
Helen + Steven ... it was our great privilege to be a part of your wedding celebration ... we're sure it was some sort of divine appointment!
P.S.> If you like this film by StillMotion, don't miss all the photos in our previous blog entry!

Ever wonder how all those lovely details from your favourite weddings get put together?
We worked with the super creative Mike Enns of Enns Visuals to put together a short film giving you a little 'behind the scenes' view on how Ariel + Andrew's Anthropologie 'un-wedding' wedding was created! Mike bascially followed us around, filming our every move, documenting a day in the life of Mimosa Flower Studio.
And to think ... it all started with a yellow couch!
