Heather + Peter were married in an outdoor wedding ceremony on the back lawn overlooking the Burlington Bay at Burlington Golf and Country Club ... what a beautiful day! Immediately after the ceremony, guests were invited for cocktails and an evening dinner reception.
Heather's colour paletted featured '
Glow' in shades of yellow with an accent of white and silvery pewter.
We designed this wedding using orchids, gloriosa, yellow garden roses and white macrphylla hydrangeas ... with touches of sculptural curly willow for some textural fun!
Here's a picture of Heather's yellow bridal bouquet finished in pewter ribbon with an under-looped collar ...

The co-ordinating bridesmaids bouquet in yellow, white and grey/pewter ...

The Burlington Golf and Country Club received a make-over a few years back ... a great looking venue with spectacular views of the bay and west end of Lake Ontario!

Loved these lucite chiavari chairs ... looked fab with the silvery pewter linens!

Each of the reception centrepieces was one of two different heights of tall glass with a full floral arrangement and an accent of curly willow at the top and as a cascade. A little handful of rough grey gravel in the bottom of the glass vessel tied it together nicely!
Here's the sketch we did for Heather + Peter ...

The sketch (above) becomes the real thing (below) on the big day ...

So now that the 2010 wedding season is officially behind us and the end of the year is upon us, it's time again to reflect on the year that was.
If you're a regular visitor, you'll recall that each year around this time we kick off our annual 'Best Of' blog series. In keeping with tradition, we're doing it again to recap 2010.
Below is just part one of what will be a number of installments to come over the winter! We've been compiling an album called 'Best Wedding Bouquets of 2010 and we're excited to revisit some love stories and images with you! In subsequent entries, we'll feature some of our favourite centerpieces, reception, church and ceremony décor as well!
We hope you enjoy the recap as much as we enjoy the memories it brings us!
One of our first weddings of the season was Natalija + Marc at Burlington Golf and Country Club. Natalija’s colour palette was a fusion of 'Spirit' and ‘Breeze’ which included tones of deep pink and magenta and shades of purple subtly set off by white hydrangea.

The matching bridesmaid's bouquets ... a big bridal party with 8 girls! The bouquets looked amazing against the shimmery fabric of their dresses ... depending on the light, you'd see tones of lavender, purple, pink, magenta or even electric blue!

We were loving the rich, deep colours and textures of Melissa + Dave's wedding flowers at Vineland Estates Winery The colours of the flowers we were working with prominently featured our Passion theme in shades of deep red, burgundy and cerise. Luscious and romantic! Don't these colours just knock your socks off??? Unbelievable! Notice the little fluffy detailing on the stem of Melissa's bouquet ... we affectionately referred to it as a 'tutu' around the studio all weekend! A perfect match for the ruffles on Melissa's wedding dress ...

Caley + Richard's outdoor wedding ceremony took place at Richmond Hill Golf and Country Club ... the colour palette for the ceremony and the wear and carry pieces was our 'Forest' theme! How adorable does Caley look ... a picture of complete serenity!!

Lots of floral goodness at Jennifer + Robert's wedding in September ... dahlias, red and pink orchids, red hydrangeas, amaranthus, curly willow, celosia, burgundy cordeline, light pink nerines and the most absolutely delicious garden roses ... ever. The colour palette was based on 'Bliss' This closeup of Jennifer's bridal bouquet gives you a good idea of the colour palette we were working with ... soft and muted tones.

Each of the five bridesmaids bouquets carried through the colours, but were slightly different in texture and ingredients ...

This particular weekend, we designed the flowers for Julia + David's vineyard wedding. We were working with very 'modern vintage' palette featuring muted and antique shades of lavender and purple, muted mulberry, blush, blue, tan and sage green. To accomplish this very relaxed and assorted look, we used fluffy flowers like dahlias and antique green hydrangeas, as well as seeded eucalyptus and all sorts of gardeny goodness!! The lacy detailing on Julia's bridal bouquet is the perfect tell-tale sign of the 'modern vintage' feel we were going for ...

The bridesmaid's bouquets were little more bold ... they were certainly feeling a little playful just moments before gliding down the aisle!

Part 2 coming soon ... stay tuned!

Natalija + Marc were married in a very intimate and traditional Serbian wedding ceremony and then invited their guests to the stunning (and recently renovated) Burlington Golf and Country Club for cocktails and an evening dinner reception.
Natalija’s colour palette was a fusion of 'Spirit' and ‘Breeze’ which included tones of deep pink and magenta and shades of purple subtly set off by white hydrangea.
We designed this wedding using roses, peonies, (purple, pink and white) hydrangea, orchids, freesia, lisianthus and the-most-wonderful smelling lily of the valley! We also raided our organic cutting garden for bits of foliage such as mock orange, bridal veil spirea and the like!
Natalija's gorgeous bride's bouquet …

We hadn't been to the Burlington Golf and Country Club since their $14 million renovation ... but, wow, what a stunning transformation! This is one gorgeous building ... and they did it all right!

The accent colour, naturally provided by the venue decor, but also brought out in the Chiavari chairs, stationery and guest favors was ... gold! It was a soft, champagne gold and it set off the room amazingly well! We designed these centerpieces to be raised up above the sacred 'line-of-sight' (we call it the 'no-fly-zone'!) and this helped lend a certain physicality to the room. With low centerpieces, the room would've felt empty ... but the height of these centerpieces scaled down the vastness of the high ceiling just the right amount!

So much of the aesthetic of well executed wedding decor is in the details ... and Natalija + Marc's wedding was loaded with perfectly placed details! We particularly loved the vintage style menu stationery and boxed Godiva thank-yous!
