Congratulations to Lucy + Paul who were wed this weekend in an afternoon outdoor wedding ceremony in Oakville. It was a blisteringly hot day out ... there was not a cloud in the sky! A perfect summer day in July.
We were excited to design the organic, texture-laden, earthy and informal flowers for the ceremony and reception. The colour palette followed shades of medium pink, silver/grey, white, deep taupe and blush.
We brought in so much texture by using Manzanita branches, curly willow, hydrangeas, garden roses, calla lilies, orchids, celosia, dusty miller, air plants, pink protea and Hens 'n Chicks (fresh picked from our studio cutting garden!!!).
Lucy's bridal bouquet ... pretty in pink ... love, love, love the Hens 'n Chicks in there!!!

The centrepieces were a mix of tall and short full-floral pieces with our signature glass candlesticks and ivory pillar candles.

It was a busy first 'official' weekend of the 2011 wedding season for us ... but so nice to get back into the groove after a long winter!
Sarah + Mike were married in Niagara-on-the-Lake at St. Vincent de Paul church in an afternoon ceremony and later they celebrated with an elegant dinner reception at Queen's Landing (just around the corner), one of the Vintage Hotels.
The palette for the day consisted of ivory/champagne, white, old world gold and featured a deep fig purple in the girls' bouquets. The star blooms were definitely the most delicate and elegant phalaenopsis orchids on the table tops ... actually, orchids in general, including cymbids, vandas and lady slippers, were all over the place!
We also brought loads of candles to imbue the ballroom with warmth and romance.
Sarah was so excited and grateful ... she gushed profusely every time we met up all day long ... she certainly knew how to make us feel appreciated! It was definitely our pleasure to design for this lovely couple ... Sarah + Mike, we wish you a blessed marriage journey!!
Sarah's bridal bouquet with stunning purple Vanda orchids ...

For the wedding ceremony, we designed four large floral arrangements and a dozen cute little pew posies with white hydrangea.

These absolutely breathtaking phalaenopsis orchids stole the show in the Grand Georgian Ballroom at Queen's Landing ... an amazing combo that also featured our exclusive Perennial glassware collection. We sketched it out for Sarah + Mike ...

We created a 'Wishing Tree' in the Atrium that featured Manzanita branches, purple vanda orchids and lovely hanging glass lanterns.

We were back at the Vintage Hotels for another double header this weekend ... it's been a busy November!!
Carolyn + Mike's Niagara on the Lake wedding celebration was held at the Pillar and Post, with the wedding ceremony taking place upstairs in The Gallery room followed by cocktails and a lovely dinner reception downstairs in the Upper Canada room. We love the rustic charm of this warm and inviting property nestled right in the heart the village, just a couple of steps off the beaten path.
The long harvest style tables at the reception in The Upper Canada room featured tablescapes we designed in eggplant and olive/fresh green with deep and intense tones. A modern and eclectic yet natural feel incorporating such varied florals and elements as orchids, mums, succulents, Manzanita branches, moss and an absolute ton of candlelight and glass!
Congrats and best wishes to Carolyn + Mike ... thanks for letting us share in your big day! The purple Vanda orchids and Schwarzwalder callas in Carolyn's bouquet were unbelievable!

We designed a few different bouquets for the bridesmaids ...

Groom Mike hamming it up for the camera ... nice boutonniere Mike!

The ceremony featured a backdrop of Mazanita branches with those gorgeous Vanda orchid blooms and some cute little hanging glass lanterns! Our custom wrought iron Shepherd's Hooks and loads of rose petals lined the aisle ...

Loving this incredible cake by Wedding Cakes by Design ... we tucked in a giant slab of walnut tree underneath and designed a complimentary posy of succulents, moss and orchids ... a forest of goodness!

Usually this late into the season, our weddings tend to be more intimate and close-knit affairs ... however, this month I think we're setting some sort of all-time 'guest attendance' record!
For instance, take Jennifer + Matthew who were married this past weekend, celebrating with their nearly 400 guests, packing both the church and reception venue to the gills! And we heard it was a great party ... going until nearly 3:00am with both a live Macedonian band and DJ keeping the dance floor packed into the wee hours.
We were working with a predominately white and ivory palette with splashes of fresh chartreuse coming from the foliage of the flowers. White hydrangeas, roses, garden roses, ivory lisianthus and some gorgeous white anemones (with black centres) commanded the monobotanical floral palette.
Structural design elements included birch logs, manzanita branches and an absolute ton of glass vessels and candlelight! Set against the guest tables covered in slate crinkle linen with dramatic black chair covers, it was all very modern, clean and formal, yet relaxed and tangible at the same time!
Jennifer's bridal bouquet ... a very soft and creamy delicate bouquet of garden roses, peonies and ranunculus was a perfect compliment to her absolutely stunning Oscar de la Renta dress ... we're soooo loving those ruffles!!

We fell for these amazing anemones ... beautiful in the bridesmaids bouquets!

We created four of these oversized florals for the ceremony. A traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony is a thing of beauty ... so much cultural value and dripping with tradition.

Floral decor for the reception was split between two different table designs. The first consisted of a tablescape of pedestal glass in various heights filled with monobotanical flowers, birch logs and candles interspersed. The second design, on round tables, featured a single manzanita branch covered with moss and white orchids climbing up into the branches with rose petals, votive candles and hanging lanterns. Sometimes we'll do up a sketch of our planned tablescape to help our clients visualize the final design ... a background in visual art certainly comes in handy at times!!

Wedding cake by Con Gusto Artisan Bakery ... impeccable!

Our congratulations go out to Jennifer + Matthew ... cheers and best wishes to the start of your marriage adventure!

Jody-Lynn + John celebrated their Niagara on the Lake wedding ceremony in The Gallery upstairs at the Pillar and Post. After the ceremony, their guests were invited to the Upper Canada Room for cocktails and an evening dinner reception.
The colour palette for the day was ‘Charm’ which featured medium pink hues. We were going for a contemporary yet vintage romantic feel! The soft and fluffy garden roses and hydrangea were a perfect combo!
Jody-Lynn's bridal bouquet ... soft and romantic! Instead of the traditional satin ribbon, a delicate lace detailing was used ...

Such a wonderful rich texture to these garden roses ... we love them! If you lean in close to your screen, you might almost ... get ... a whiff ... mmmmm!

The bridesmaids had coordinating smaller bouquets wrapped in satin with our neat-and-tidy silver stud finish!

We managed to grab a couple of 'candid' shots of the bride and groom over the photographer's shoulder ... this is why we stick to flowers!

The bridemaids lookin' hot (and concerned, for some reason!) in shimmery pewter with heels to match their bouquets!

If you're looking for an upscale venue with loads of history, the Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake is for you! Pillar and Post's original structure was built in the late 1890s as a canning factory and since has been lovingly transformed into a fine Niagara on the Lake hotel and wedding venue.

The soft hues of the medium pink roses and white hydrangea in these centerpieces were balanced with hits of fresh green in the form of mint and mock orange foliages from our organic cutting garden.

We created a focal point with this pink-toned Manzanita Wishing Tree in the Regent Room lobby just outside the main dining area.

We flanked the extra-long headtable with two of our signature 'large arrangements ...

This cute multi-tiered cupcake 'tree' was created by the ever talented cake designers at Vineyard Sweets! Good to see you again Ruth and Eda!!!

Cheers and best wishes to Jody-Lynn + John … it was a pleasure to be part of your day!
